Job Description:

  • This position requires 10+ years’ experience.

Position Overview:

  • The client’s Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing various special projects assigned by the Group Director of the client.
  • Completes assignments by following up with the various client Region Managers and is empowered to provide direction as needed.
  • Acts under the authority and direction of the Group Director of the client and is authorized to direct special activities of the client operations managers while completing special projects or assignments as necessary.

Job Duties include:

Key Characteristics:

  • Must be considered an expert in propane operations and have prior experience as a leader in clients’ Retail operations.
  • Must be a recognized individual with management skills necessary to lead various special initiatives within the organization.
  • Requires extensive time management ability to meet multiple job deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, solve problems, and provide innovative solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Directs the nationwide special projects of clients’ operations. Does not get involved in the day-to-day business but acts as a representative of the management team.

Profitability:

  • As necessary, reviews financial cost implications of special projects before proceeding and recommends the best cost alternative to remedy the problem or complete the assignment.
  • This may include a review of monthly financial statements and other operational cost documents to ensure profitability.

Asset Management:

  • Able to review capital requests and equipment ordering as needed to complete assignments.
  • May be called upon to manage and maintain clients’ assets, such as tanks, vehicles, and equipment to meet. Company objectives set through service timetables, cost controls, and return on assets.
  • May oversee routine construction and maintenance work.

Communications:

  • Keeps the Group Director of the client informed on all issues of importance.
  • May require presentations of information to the Leadership Team if needed.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must understand and apply NFPA and DOT regs.
  • Stay abreast of competitive conditions within sub-regions of the country.
  • Understanding of cost management and distribution systems.
  • Financial management ability.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Business Degree preferred, or equivalent management experience.
  • Management experience in the propane industry.
  • Experience in leadership and management, leading a team of employees.

Working conditions:

  • Considerable travel involved.
  • Normal office environment.
