Job Summary

HCA Healthcare is looking for an experienced and innovative Data Modeler to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data products on Google Cloud. In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into actionable insights by creating robust architectures that integrate seamlessly into our enterprise ecosystem.

The Data Modeler will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will work closely with Data Product Owners to understand product requirements, ensure alignment with business goals, and design solutions that meet operational and analytical needs.

This position requires a deep understanding of the architecture of business data source systems, their structures, communication protocols, and interfaces. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a mastery of data analysis, logical data modeling, and the ability to identify opportunities for data reuse and transformation. You will design data architectures that address gaps, optimize performance, and enforce enterprise standards in cybersecurity, governance, and compliance.

As a key contributor to HCA’s data strategy, you will also develop and maintain a comprehensive data architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and evolving technology trends. By integrating advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities, you will help HCA Healthcare maximize the value of its data to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.

What you will do:

Perform advanced data analysis to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with business needs. Create logical data models or object models of moderate complexity to address business challenges. Identify redundant data objects and reusable data items across systems and applications. Define data transformation requirements and implement efficient solutions. Implement enterprise data management practices, standards, and frameworks for Data Integration Ensure data governance and security best practices are followed. Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on SQL queries and ETL pipelines

Build automated validation processes for data integrity checks

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science or a related field required
  • Master's degree Computer Science or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in data management, data products, or analytics required
  • Service and Quality Excellence: Ability to demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to delivering exceptional care to create an unmatched value proposition for our patients required
  • Proficiency in SQL and database design
  • Ability to write, tune, and interpret SQL queries; Experience GCP Big Query is a plus
  • Experience with GIT and GitHub version control.
  • Extensive experience in architecture, construction, and implementation of data-intensive solutions
  • Strong understanding of metadata management and data cataloging
  • Adeptness to learn new assignments, technologies and applications quickly and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, reverse engineer and optimize existing ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Python, GCP Dataflow and Cloud Composer is a plus
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data, and offer solutions to complex clinical problems.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations.

Work Location/Schedule:

  • Nashville, TN (near Centennial Park)
  • Onsite M-F for the fist 6 months, then Hybrid with 2 days onsite/wk.
