ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Credit Reporting and Disputes Analyst is responsible for overseeing complex credit reporting and dispute resolution activities to ensure compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Metro 2 standards, and credit bureau requirements. This role serves a subject matter expert and escalation point for credit furnishing accuracy and dispute handling, helping guide junior analysts and improve credit data integrity and regulatory compliance.

NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK

  1. Investigate and resolve high complexity consumer credit disputes submitted via e-OSCAR or directly from consumers.
  2. Review and ensure the accuracy of credit data furnished to all major credit bureaus.
  3. Analyze loan servicing and system data to validate account statuses, payment histories, and other reported information.
  4. Respond to credit verification requests.
  5. Lead cause analysis of recurring data errors or dispute trends and implement solutions.
  6. Provide guidance and training to junior analysts on FCRA requirements, dispute resolution procedures, and data validation processes.
  7. Conduct reviews of consumer dispute cases to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  8. Act as liaison between Loan Operations, Collections, and Risk and Compliance to resolve data discrepancies related to credit reporting.
  9. Support audits and regulatory exam reviews by providing documentation and subject matter input.
  10. Maintain compliance with FCRA/FACTA, CFPB regulations, and industry best practices.
  11. Stay current on FCRA requirements, Metro 2® changes, and industry best practices.
  12. Take ownership for actions, decisions, and results; openly accept feedback and demonstrate both the willingness and ability to improve.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be qualified for this position.

  1. 4 – 6 years of experience in credit bureau reporting and dispute management, including 1 – 3 years of experience in financial services or banking.
  2. Strong understanding of the FCRA, Metro 2 reporting standards, and e-OSCAR.
  3. Familiarity with credit bureau systems.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Must possess a strong service orientation.
  7. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  8. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer).
  9. Travel required on occasion.

  3. Experience with loan servicing or core banking systems.
