Chief Operating Officer – Commercial General Contractor:

G&E Partners are working with a well-established and fast-growing Northeast-based Commercial General Contractor in their search for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead enterprise operations and drive strategic performance across the business.

About the Company:

Our client is a privately held, mid-sized General Contractor with over 50 years of construction excellence across the commercial, healthcare, life sciences, institutional, and residential sectors. Known for their client-first mindset and integrated construction approach , they are consistently recognized for delivering high-quality projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

As they continue to scale, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced COO to oversee day-to-day operations and partner closely with the CEO to refine systems, elevate operational efficiency, and support long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead company-wide operations, ensuring alignment between project delivery, preconstruction, business development, and support services.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to shape and execute the organization’s strategic vision.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs across divisions to drive performance, improve productivity, and ensure project excellence.
  • Support and mentor regional leaders, project executives, and field operations to ensure consistency in delivery and execution.
  • Oversee talent development initiatives and workforce planning across all departments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration across all business functions.
  • Drive accountability around safety, quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements to support scalability and operational growth.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction operations, with a track record of leading teams at a senior/executive level.
  • Proven ability to manage organizational change and implement scalable systems and processes.
  • Experience overseeing complex commercial projects ranging from $50M–$500M+.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of P&L management, risk, and growth strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or executive training preferred.
