Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) for a 13-week contract with Providence Health and Services MSP. This role requires strong orthopedic surgery experience and flexibility to float to other affiliated facilities if needed. The CST will play a critical role in the surgical team, ensuring procedures are conducted under strict aseptic technique, with full compliance to safety and sterilization protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons in various procedures including orthopedic, vascular, general, GYN, ENT, and robotic surgeries

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments and equipment

• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and safety protocols

• Anticipate surgeon's needs during procedures and pass instruments accordingly

• Handle and label specimens properly

• Perform instrument counts before, during, and after surgeries

• Disinfect and sterilize instruments as needed

• Document procedures and activities using Epic charting system

• Participate in on-call rotation and float to other OR units as required

• Years of Experience: 1.5 years minimum required

• Specialty Requirement: Orthopedic surgery experience is required

• Certifications:

  • Required: BLS, NBSTSA (Certified Surgical Technologist CST)

• Charting System: Epic (experience required)

• Travel Experience: Not required

• Floating: May float to other facilities (e.g., Covenant Medical Center)

• Block Schedules: Yes

• On-call/Weekend: 1 weekend per month

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Experience:
Minimum of 1.5 years of recent CST experience in an acute care OR setting
Prior experience in orthopedic cases strongly preferred

License/Certification:

• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification

• Current BLS certification

• Robotic Ortho, GYN, GI, Colorectal, and Urologic procedures

Vascular Surgery:

• AAA Repair

• Carotid Endarterectomy

• Fem-Pop Bypass

• Vein Stripping

General Surgery:

• Appendectomy

• Hernia Repairs

• Cholecystectomy

• Colon Resections

• Thyroidectomy

GYN & OB Surgery:

• Hysterectomies (Abdominal & Vaginal)

• Bilateral Tubal Ligation

• Dilation and Curettage (D&C)

Neuro Surgery:

• Laminectomy/Discectomy

• Anterior Cervical Fusion

• Lumbar Fusion

ENT, Urology, Thoracic, Ophthalmology:

• Tracheostomy, Tonsillectomy

• Prostatectomy, Nephrectomy

• Cataract Extraction

• Lung Resection, VATS
