Job Description

The Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation systems and equipment at customer sites. This role combines technical expertise in automation with exceptional customer service skills to ensure operational excellence and client satisfaction. The Automation Technician will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and other industrial automation components.

This position requires the ability to travel domestically and abroad.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, calibrate, and commission automation equipment and systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, robotics, and related automation hardware.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in automation systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software-related problems.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and programming documentation.
• Provide professional, timely support to customers, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Communicate technical findings and solutions clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Assist customers in system operation training and troubleshooting best practices.
• Recommend system improvements, upgrades, and parts sales based on observed needs.
• Maintain detailed service reports, documentation, and time records.
• Adhere to all site-specific safety standards and company policies.
• Assist in the training and mentorship of junior technicians.
• Support remote troubleshooting and technical assistance as needed.

Associate degree or technical diploma (preferred) in:

• Industrial Automation
• Mechatronics
• Electrical Engineering Technology
• Electronics, Instrumentation, or Controls Technology

Experience

• 2–5 years in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment preferred
• Field service or system integration experience is a plus
